Good news for Shreveport residents! It seems that we’re in luck when it comes to our gasoline prices. Over the past week, prices have dipped by a delightful 1.9 cents per gallon, bringing the average cost down to $2.61 per gallon. This is part of a larger trend, as prices have decreased a whopping 32.8 cents per gallon in just a month! And if you thought that was impressive, here’s another eye-opener: we’re seeing a significant drop of 68.9 cents per gallon compared to last year. How great is that?
When you look at the national average, which currently stands at $3.15 per gallon, it’s clear that Shreveport is getting a better deal at the pump. National prices have also seen a reduction—down 6.9 cents from last week and 26.2 cents from a month ago. Across the country, the average gas price is now 70.5 cents lower than it was at this time last year.
For those on the hunt for the cheapest gas, the most affordable station in Shreveport was recently spotted charging $2.37 per gallon. Interestingly, the priciest options offered gas for $3.19 per gallon, making for a significant difference of 82 cents. When looking at the entire state of Louisiana, it’s notable that while one station matched Shreveport’s low price, others were charging as high as $3.49 per gallon. That’s a stark contrast of $1.12!
Patrick De Haan, an expert in petroleum analysis, has weighed in on this ongoing trend, sharing that “Gasoline prices continue to crumble across nearly the entire nation.” He noted that this decline isn’t limited to gasoline; diesel prices are also falling and are currently at their lowest levels in almost 1,000 days! There’s even a bright possibility for further decreases, as many stations will soon switch to winter gasoline. This may allow the national average price to dip below $2.99 per gallon, which hasn’t happened since 2021. Now, that’s something to be excited about!
Naturally, you might be wondering how Shreveport stacks up against nearby cities. Well, Little Rock has seen its average gas price change as well, dropping 5.3 cents to reach $2.83 per gallon. Meanwhile, Dallas recorded an even larger decrease of 19.5 cents bringing its average down to $2.71 per gallon. The state average for Louisiana also fell by 2.6 cents, settling at $2.75 per gallon.
While Shreveport enjoys relatively low gas prices, it’s essential to note that not everyone is experiencing the same relief. For instance, California is grappling with rising prices due to refinery maintenance and outages. De Haan expressed hope that this situation would stabilize by the end of the month.
As we navigate these changes, Shreveport residents have every reason to celebrate the low costs at the pump. If trends hold, it looks like we might be in for even more savings in the coming weeks. So, fill up your tanks, and let’s enjoy these lower gas prices while they last!
