Sponsor Our ArticlesShreveport, Louisiana is in full swing for Halloween, and what better way to celebrate than by diving into some underwater fun at the Shreveport Aquarium! This spooky season, the aquarium has been busy hosting a range of exciting events to bring festive horror and enjoyment to visitors of all ages. With the final day of the Mutiny Pirate Adventure happening on October 31, the atmosphere is buzzing with pirate-themed excitement!
Kids and adults alike have been delighting in the chance to meet the infamous Captain Bones—the star of the aquarium’s treasure hunt experiences that began on October 14. Little adventurers dressed up in their best pirate attire, ready to trade in their pirate passports for fun prizes! Morgan Nix, the aquarium’s program assistant, shared that the event has been a big hit, encouraging kids to learn about “pirate skills” while discovering all sorts of fascinating sea creatures.
One of the highlights of the Mutiny Pirate Adventure is the special pumpkin carving show that takes place in the aquarium’s shark tunnel. Imagine this: a diver—often the aquarium’s curator—submerging into the tank, carving a pumpkin while surrounded by the majestic sharks. “It’s awesome to watch,” said Nix. “You see the sharks go around while they’re carving the pumpkin, and it’s really cool because typically carving is just people at a table, and this just adds a huge element of excitement!” It’s not your typical pumpkin patch, that’s for sure!
As part of the aquatic festivities, visitors were also treated to a live demonstration where they got to watch the aquarium’s snapping turtles being fed. Those powerful jaws showcased the wonders of nature and reminded everyone just how thrilling and sometimes scary marine life can be. It was certainly an unforgettable experience that combined Halloween thrill with marine education.
But wait! The fun doesn’t end there! As Halloween wraps up, organizers are already diving into preparations for the upcoming Christmas celebration titled I Believe Lights the Night, set to kick off on November 30. This festive event promises even more holiday magic, with fun activities like magic stations run by cheerful elves, hot cocoa, and scrumptious cookies!
If you’re lucky, you might even get a chance to meet Santa Claus himself during this enchanting evening. With festive lights aglow and holiday spirit sparkling, it’s shaping up to be a delightful addition to the Shreveport holiday season!
With Halloween right around the corner, if you’re in Shreveport, don’t miss out on the final day of the aquarium’s spooky adventures. Bring your family, wear your best costumes, and create some cherished memories. And as the last pumpkin is carved and the last pirate adventure wraps up, remember that there’s still plenty of celebration ahead as we transition from spooky to merry!
Join in on the excitement and let your imagination roam free in the depths of the Shreveport Aquarium this Halloween. You definitely won’t want to miss it!
