Sponsor Our ArticlesAs the holiday season rolls in, the hustle and bustle of festive cheer starts to surround us. This year, Shreveport is set to light up with joy as CPKC Railroad continues its beloved Holiday Train tour. The vibrant train cars, adorned in sparkling reds and greens, will embark on a magical journey aimed at spreading cheer across the region. This enchanting 26th annual train tour is scheduled to kick off on November 21 and will conclude its journey on December 20. It’s a sight that holiday lovers simply cannot miss!
Mark your calendars for a special evening on December 2, when the CPKC Holiday Train will be rolling into Shreveport! You can head to 4550 Lakeshore Dr. between 7:45 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. to catch all the festivities. This exciting event promises to be filled with a delightful mix of live music, meet-and-greet opportunities with Santa Claus and his merry band of elves, and even walk-through tours of the Christmas-themed train cars.
The best part? All of these delightful experiences are completely free! However, the CPKC Railroad encourages everyone who attends to consider making either a financial or food donation to support local food banks in our community. It’s a fantastic way to give back during the season of giving. Trust us; your contributions can truly brighten up another family’s holiday season.
One of the highlights of the CPKC Holiday Train tour is the **167 live music performances** lined up throughout its journey. Local talents and beloved artists will be taking to the stage, and Shreveport is lucky to host the amazing KT Tunstall and the lively American Authors during this stop. Their tunes are sure to get your holiday spirit soaring! While these two bands will perform here, keep an eye on the full schedule, as the performing pairs vary from stop to stop, featuring popular names like the James Barker Band, Clerel, and many more.
The Holiday Train tour continues a cherished tradition that started with the Kansas City Southern Railway, known as the Holiday Express. Shreveport will also host this festive train, which will glide through a total of 13 stops across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Adorned in cheerful decorations, the Holiday Express offers six train cars that will surely engage visitors of all ages!
During the train’s scheduled stops, Santa Claus will be taking time out of his busy holiday season to spread joy. Kids and families can expect a visit from the jolly old elf and his helpers as they share stories, smiles, and plenty of holiday cheer. It’s the perfect chance for the little ones to take pictures and create unforgettable memories!
This year, as the holiday season approaches, gather your friends and family and head down to Shreveport for a lovely evening filled with music, laughter, and a generous spirit. The CPKC Holiday Train tour is not just about the enchanting visuals but also about coming together as a community to uplift those in need. So, don’t forget to wear your best holiday sweater and bring along a donation to help make this season even brighter for our neighbors!
