According to reports, the police received calls about a head-on collision on East Kings Highway near the Bert Kouns Industrial Loop early in the morning on February 13, around 3 a.m. Responding officers arrived on the scene to find Gant, just 20 years old, inside a silver four-door sedan that had collided with a pickup truck.

Fortunately, the occupants of the pickup truck were unharmed during the incident, but the heartbreaking scene unfolded as officers examined the sedan. They discovered a bullet hole in the passenger side door, and tragically, Gant had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

Emergency Response

The emergency response team quickly transported Gant to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, but despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at 3:14 a.m. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office later confirmed his identity through fingerprint comparison, marking a tragic end to a young life.

But the story doesn’t end there. On the same night, another man was discovered with gunshot wounds at the intersection of Southfield Road and Youree Drive. This second victim had reportedly been shot inside a vehicle before managing to exit it, though he was uncooperative with law enforcement.

This has led investigators to explore the possibility that Gant and the second victim might have engaged in a shootout while in the same vehicle. As the police continue to piece together the events of that fateful night, the community is left wondering what could lead to such violence.
