Shreveport Clarifies Parking Situation for Humor & Harmony Festival

Shreveport has turned heads this week as it issued a formal statement regarding parking at the Louisiana Boardwalk during the highly anticipated Humor & Harmony Festival. The festival, set to occur this weekend and backed by popular artist 50 Cent, has created some confusion concerning transportation options.

City’s Official Response

On August 6, Shreveport officials made it clear that the Louisiana Boardwalk will not function as a location for shuttle services meant to transport festival-goers. The announcement followed a previous comment from Bossier City officials, who had expressed hopes for the festival’s success but made it clear that transportation from the Boardwalk was not an option.

Communication between Cities

City representatives claimed there was a mix-up regarding the earlier inclusion of the Boardwalk in promotional materials. According to Shreveport’s press release, Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler reached out to local leadership to clarify that SporTran, the city’s public transit service, would not be welcomed to operate shuttle services in Bossier City.

Importance of Coordination

Leslie Peck, the Director of Communications at SporTran, emphasized that “the Louisiana Boardwalk is no longer a free Park & Ride location for the Humor & Harmony Weekend.” She also called for immediate retractions from media outlets that may have misrepresented this information. Shreveport officials hope to avoid further confusion among attendees planning to enjoy the festival.

Looking Ahead

As the weekend approaches, both cities acknowledge the festival’s potential to boost their local economies. Despite the parking issues, the excitement surrounding the event continues to build, with many eagerly anticipating performances and activities scheduled throughout the four-day celebration.

In summary, if you’re planning to attend the Humor & Harmony Festival, make sure to look for other parking options, as the Louisiana Boardwalk will not serve as a Park & Ride hub as initially thought.
