Shreveport Police Arrest Three Men for Possession of Illegally Modified Guns

Incident Overview

In Shreveport, Louisiana, three men were taken into custody on September 1 after police discovered they were in possession of illegally modified firearms. The arrests followed reports of gunshots fired in the neighborhood, prompting officers to investigate the situation.

Timing and Location

Around 9:30 PM, police received calls about shots being heard in the area of the 500 block of Spring Lake Circle. As officers responded, they received updated information indicating that the gunfire originated from the Babylon Street area.

Police Encounter

Upon arriving at the 900 block of Babylon Street, officers noticed several individuals in the vicinity. Among them, they came across three men who were reportedly carrying guns that had been modified to fire in a fully automatic manner.

Details of the Arrests

The three men arrested were identified and charged as follows:

  • Malcolm Jacobs, 23 years old – charged with possession of a machine gun.
  • Jared Williams, 30 years old – charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a machine gun.
  • Diaviyon Williams, 24 years old – charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a machine gun.

Criminal Background

Both Jared and Diaviyon Williams are reported to be prior felons, making it illegal for them to possess firearms. This factor heightened the seriousness of the charges against them.

Evidence Collected

During the incident, officers recovered approximately 50 shell casings along with several firearms, indicating a substantial gunfire exchange in the area.
