Local authorities reported neighbors had heard gunshots, prompting them to alert the police. Upon their arrival, officers found a young adult male unresponsive in a driveway with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Near the scene pistol and rifle shell casings were discovered, indicating potential multiple firearms usage.
The victim was identified by the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office as 19-year-old Deontrell D. Jackson. Police further secured surveillance video that shows two individuals, armed and wearing gloves, prowling around the area.
Currently, an “associate of the victim” is held under detention as police continue their investigation. This incident has been marked as the 37th homicide in Caddo Parish and the 34th recorded in Shreveport this year alone, which raises serious concerns about safety among local residents.
The incident prompted immediate shock and deep concern within the local community. The rising incidence of fatal shootings has been worrying residents, with many calling for stronger law enforcement and crime prevention efforts. Moreover, the alarming trend of rising homicides in the region has spurred increased anxiety among the people, who are now desperately seeking swift and effective law enforcement action.

As they strive to find and bring to justice those responsible, the local community is urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
As investigations continue, local police remind residents that any piece of information, no matter how small or insignificant it may appear, can be crucial in solving such cases. They encourage anyone with information about the incident to come forward and help deliver justice for the victim’s grieving family and the entire community living in fear.
