New Location Brings Fresh Energy to Derby Day Celebration

The Provenance Town Center in Shreveport was alive with excitement on Saturday, May 4, as the city came together to celebrate the Kentucky Derby in style. After a year hiatus, Shreveport Derby Day returned, much to the delight of partygoers who were eager to don their best fascinators and seersucker outfits for the occasion.

A Taste of Kentucky in Shreveport

For many attendees, the event provided a unique opportunity to experience a taste of Kentucky right in their own backyard. Partygoer Katy Kent shared her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “It’s a great way to get out, support the community, and feel like you’re in Kentucky for the day.”

The new location at Provenance Town Center proved to be a hit among guests, offering ample space to enjoy live music by Flow Tribe and seek shade from the sun during the peak hours of the day. The festivities kicked off at 3 p.m., and even as the event drew to a close at 7 p.m., the party spirit was still going strong.

Celebrating the 150th Running of the Kentucky Derby

This year’s Derby Day celebration marked the 150th running of the prestigious Kentucky Derby, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event. Guests were treated to a feast of delicious food from local restaurants, including Rhino Coffee, Windrush Grill, and Frank’s Louisiana Kitchen. A highlight of the day was the impressive ten-foot ice sculpture featuring pounds of boiled shrimp, providing a luxurious touch to the afternoon-long festivities.
