A Shreveport lawyer, William C. Bradford, has been appointed as the new Vice President of External Affairs at Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO), marking a significant leadership change within the company. This announcement comes following the retirement of Brian Bond, who served in the position for 41 years.
Bradford will oversee community relations, corporate communications, economic development, and public policy matters affecting AEP SWEPCO’s operations in the evolving electricity industry landscape. His appointment reflects a strategic move by SWEPCO to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and navigate regulatory challenges within the sector.
Prior to joining SWEPCO, Bradford held a position at Blanchard, Walker, O’Quin & Roberts law firm, where he served as Vice President of Marketing and Practice Development. With expertise in regulatory compliance, public finance, economic development, government relations, and real estate law, Bradford brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Bradford stated, “I am excited to join the SWEPCO family and contribute to the company’s mission of delivering exceptional service to communities. I am committed to upholding the legacy of my predecessor and driving strategic initiatives that benefit our customers and stakeholders.”
Brett Mattison, President and Chief Operations Officer of SWEPCO, commended Bradford’s leadership qualities and shared his confidence in the new Vice President. “William is a dedicated leader who shares our values of community empowerment and customer-centricity. We are eager to witness the positive impact he will make in advancing SWEPCO’s strategic goals,” said Mattison.
As SWEPCO continues to navigate the dynamic energy landscape, Bradford’s appointment signals a commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. His strategic vision and legal expertise are expected to drive positive outcomes for the company and its stakeholders in the years to come.
