A Shreveport man wanted in the Feb. 11 shooting death of a toddler has been arrested. Demond Baber, 22, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail Tuesday morning on a charge of second-degree murder.
Shreveport police on Monday identified Baber as another suspect in the death of Karter Martin. Four men have already been arrested in connection with the 1-year-old’s death.
Karter was shot in the head as he was sleeping with his parents in their apartment on East Stoner. Gunmen fired shots from the street and then sped away in an orange car.
Police have already arrested Deanthony Griffin, 27, and Leterrion Watts, 23, for second-degree murder in Karter’s death. Two others — Jaylan Young, 23, and Kedarrion Baker, 28 — are charged with possession of firearms by convicted felons in connection with the incident.
Karter Martin’s funeral arrangements have been set for this week. He was a beloved child who tragically lost his life in the shooting incident.
The community is reeling from the senseless violence that took the life of an innocent child. The arrests bring a semblance of justice and closure to the grieving family.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of Karter Martin to ensure all responsible parties are held accountable for their actions.
