A Shreveport man allegedly carjacked a mother and her children Friday morning and fired a gunshot at the woman before fleeing the scene, according to the Shreveport Police Department.
The suspect, identified as Gregory Underwood, 29, was apprehended by police and booked into the Shreveport City Jail. He is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and three counts of domestic abuse aggravated assault.
Police responded to the 1800 block of Oakdale Circle just before 10:30 a.m. following reports of the carjacking. The victim, along with several small children, was found on the side of the road.
Investigations revealed that the victim was in a vehicle with Underwood when a domestic altercation occurred. Underwood allegedly brandished a gun and forced the woman and children out of the vehicle. He then reportedly fired a gunshot at the victim before making his escape.
Shreveport Police patrol officers swiftly responded to the scene and took action to apprehend Underwood. He was taken into custody without further incident and now faces serious charges related to the incident.
The victim and children involved in the carjacking were thankfully unharmed but left traumatized by the terrifying ordeal.
