Shreveport, La. – An altercation between two men, one armed with a hatchet, has resulted in a male pedestrian suffering injuries. The incident took place around 9 a.m. on May 10 at the intersecting streets of Spring and Crockett.
Police were alerted to a stabbing incident in the city of Shreveport. According to the victim’s statement to the responding authorities, an unidentified man began harassing him as he was proceeding on foot. The unknown male, according to eyewitness accounts, was rummaging through a backpack before pulling out what was described as a survival-style hatchet.
The pedestrian, sensing danger, decided to defend himself and pulled out a fixed blade. The hatchet-wielding offender then reportedly attacked the victim, causing a non-fatal injury measuring approximately 1 1/2 inches long and half an inch wide. At the time of writing, it remains uncertain whether the assailant was harmed during the confrontation.
The victim was rushed to a nearby local hospital for medical assistance. The injuries, although not life-threatening, warranted prompt medical attention. Detectives were subsequently informed of the showdown.
The perpetrator fled the scene before the police could arrive. He was described as a Black male clad in a white shirt and red shorts, with dreadlocks. The local police force is appealing to anyone with relevant information concerning this event to come forward and aid them in identifying and apprehending the assailant.
