Shreveport Gears Up for National Night Out

Shreveport, La. – It’s that time of year again! National Night Out is just around the corner, and the excitement is palpable in the air. Scheduled for this Tuesday, law enforcement agencies across the ArkLaTex are gearing up for a series of fun-filled block parties, and you won’t want to miss it!

What is National Night Out?

If you’re not already familiar, National Night Out is all about fostering community spirit and encouraging neighborhoods to stand together against crime. The goal is to raise awareness about crime and drug prevention, while also strengthening the relationship between local police and the community. Simply put, it’s a night for neighbors to unite and show that they’re committed to keeping their areas safe!

Kickoff Ceremony at Shreveport Police Department

This year, the Shreveport Police Department is thrilled to announce their kickoff ceremony on the front lawn at 1234 Texas Street at 4:30 p.m.. This event is perfect for getting the ball rolling on the evening’s festivities. Later, first responders and civic leaders will gather for a celebration at the Sunset Masonic Lodge (located at 5115 W. Bert Kouns) where the celebrations will continue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Food, Fun, and Activities Galore!

Prepare for a feast! Visitors can look forward to delicious food, a bounce house for the little ones, exciting door prizes, and even a mobile blood drive. This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to enjoy good company while also supporting fantastic causes.

Fun Across Bossier Parish

The excitement isn’t limited to Shreveport! Over in Bossier Parish, Sheriff Julian Whittington warmly invites every resident to attend their National Night Out celebration, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.. Deputies will be out and about, mingling with the community during various block parties devoted to crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie.

Marshall and Surrounding Areas Join In

Meanwhile, folks in Marshall are ready to join the festivities at the Marshall Convention Center from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.. Expect to see thrilling police and fire demonstrations showcasing vehicles and equipment, all aimed at promoting safety and crime prevention. Marshall Police Chief Cliff Carruth highlights that this event is about community building and understanding the resources available at residents’ fingertips.

Battle of the Badges and More in Marion County

Don’t forget about Marion County! They will be hosting a Battle of the Badges blood drive at W.F. Lockett Stadium in Jefferson from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.. There will be free hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, and a plethora of games and activities for all ages—including a car bash and face painting!

Mount Pleasant and Texarkana Get in on the Action

Over in Mount Pleasant, the Christian Motorcyclists Association Heaven’s Heirs Chapter #1110 will hold their own National Night Out at Dellwood Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Serving free hotdogs, chips, and drinks, they aim to foster fun and connection within the community.

Texarkana residents are also looking forward to celebrating from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.. They’ll be turning on their lights and stepping outside to engage with friends and neighbors. Don’t miss the exciting gathering at the Texarkana Mobile Home Park at 117 Parkway Drive, where you can expect free food, live entertainment, and even a petting zoo!
