The Shreveport Police Department has made several arrests in connection with alarming child sexual assault cases, emphasizing the need for community vigilance. Arrests include suspects like Khristian Alexander Gregory and Michael Gaines, with incidents reported by victims and their families. The police aim to ensure justice for affected juveniles while encouraging local residents, including university students, to be proactive about safety.
In a string of alarming developments, the Shreveport Police Department recently arrested multiple suspects connected to separate child sexual assault cases. This troubling situation highlights not only the importance of community awareness but also the police’s commitment to pursuing justice for the most vulnerable among us.
On December 16, 2022, Khristian Alexander Gregory, a 22-year-old, was taken into custody following investigations into multiple incidents of alleged sexual assault involving juveniles. The investigation kicked off when a brave child took the courageous step of reporting her assault to her counselor on December 5. Following this, the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services alerted the Shreveport Police Department, sparking a detailed inquiry.
Detectives acted swiftly, conducting a forensic interview at a child advocacy center with the victim and her mother. This interview proved crucial in uncovering more details about the previous assault, leading to the identification of another potential victim, who also claimed to have been abused by Gregory.
With the evidence mounting, a warrant for Gregory’s arrest was issued, and he was apprehended shortly thereafter. Gregory faced a bond hearing on December 18, although full specifics regarding the hearing have not been disclosed at this time.
Meanwhile, in another case that has rocked the community, 23-year-old Michael Gaines was arrested out of state after being on the run since November 21. He was wanted for causing serious bodily injuries to a teenage girl, including visible bruises on her face, strangulation marks on her neck, and bruising on her chest. Reports indicated that Gaines was dating the 15-year-old girl when these injuries occurred, prompting her mother to alert law enforcement.
Although initially misidentified as an 18-year-old, authorities quickly confirmed his true age of 23. The pursuit of Gaines was made complicated by interference from his father, Raymond, who was charged for resisting an officer during the apprehension process. On December 9, arrest warrants were issued for Gaines, citing charges ranging from battery of a dating partner with strangulation to serious bodily injuries.
Special Response Team detectives were able to link Gaines to a location in Michigan, where he was ultimately arrested. Upon his return to Shreveport, Gaines faces potential charges related to pornography involving juveniles, indecent behavior with a juvenile, computer-aided solicitation, and felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
In yet another unsettling allegation, Reginald Milton Marr Jr., a 44-year-old male, is wanted for felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. The investigation into Marr began on December 9, following reports from a neighboring law enforcement agency examining communications between Marr and a 16-year-old girl. The concerning nature of their exchanges, discovered through Facebook Messenger conversations on a school-issued Chromebook, raised red flags.
As the investigation progressed, the teen provided additional details about their relationship and the alleged sexual assault during a forensic interview, further complicating Marr’s situation.
The police department also arrested Cannon Link, a 20-year-old, on December 30 for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. Authorities issued a warrant for his arrest on December 26 after the victim reported the incident, which stemmed from an earlier report made on December 3. The girl was under the influence of alcohol—allegedly provided by Link—during the encounter, and corroborating text messages formed part of the evidence against him.
The Shreveport Police Department remains steadfast in its mission to seek justice for victims of sexual crimes and hold offenders accountable for their actions. These recent arrests only highlight the critical need for vigilant community support and communication.
Local residents are encouraged to remain aware of their surroundings and to speak up should they witness or suspect any wrongdoing. Together, as a community, they can create a safe environment for everyone—especially children, who are sadly the most vulnerable among us.
As these investigations continue, the hope is that all victims will receive the support and justice they deserve.
