Shreveport Community Comes Together for Pre-Thanksgiving Feast

SHREVEPORT, La. – On a picture-perfect sunny Sunday, the spirit of giving was alive and well in the heart of Shreveport. With temperatures reaching a delightful high of 78°F and gentle breezes blowing through at 5 to 10 mph, it was a day that seemed tailor-made for outdoor festivities. However, as the sun began to dip and the evening brought in clouds, a whirlwind of community service kicked off that left a lasting impression.

Feeding the Mind, Body, and Soul

Stoner Hill Baptist Church teamed up with the Kings of the South Motorcycle Club and Ameritas Health Caritas for a very special event aimed at nourishing more than just empty stomachs. The church’s welcoming atmosphere served the good word to those in attendance, while the motorcycle club rolled in with a mouth-watering pre-Thanksgiving feast, all aimed at strengthening community bonds.

Club President Gary Watson proudly shared, “Our main goal is to reach the youth and collaborate with other organizations to create great things throughout the community.” It’s not just about the food; it’s about fostering connections and encouraging support among various groups.

A Biker-Ride of Gratitude

This event wasn’t just a community outreach; it was also a moment for the motorcycle club to express gratitude for another successful year of safe travels across the nation. This personal touch added a unique flair to the gathering, reminding everyone of the importance of being thankful.

Health Matters Too

But that’s not all! Ameritas Health Caritas was on hand to ensure everyone could walk away not just nourished, but informed. They provided free health screenings and essential health information, reinforcing the importance of looking after one’s well-being while connecting with the community.

“Health is wealth, and it’s great that we can provide these services while also enjoying fellowship,” said one volunteer from Ameritas. The combination of good food, spiritual nourishment, and health awareness created a perfect recipe for success.

Weathering the Clouds

As dusk approached, the skies began to shift into partly cloudy conditions, with a chance of showers moving in after midnight. A predicted low of 63°F heralded a cozy night ahead, perfect for warm meals and new friendships. While the chance of rain hovers around 50%, the spirits of those attending were anything but dampened. They were on a mission: to celebrate life, health, and community.

A Call to Action

Moving forward, Gary Watson and his fellow bikers are eager to make this a more regular event. “We want to continue making an impact in the lives of people in Shreveport. We have to keep finding ways to connect and uplift one another. This is just the beginning!”

The local community responded with open arms and full plates, embracing the chance to connect and share in the harvest spirit just before Thanksgiving. As the event wrapped up, it was evident that the sense of togetherness brought joy not only to those being served but to the helpers as well, highlighting how easy it can be to make a difference.

Celebrate with Gratitude

As we approach this season of gratitude, events like the one in Shreveport remind us all of the power of community. Whether through acts of service, sharing meals, or simply offering a compassionate ear, each one of us can play a role in uplifting our neighbors. So, as the cold creeps in and the holiday season begins, let’s remember to stay warm with kindness.
