Shreveport Regional Airport Offers Tips for Traveling This Spring Break

Spring break for schools in Caddo and Bossier parishes is less than a week away, and travel is on everybody’s mind. The Shreveport Regional Airport is gearing up to assist travelers with essential tips for smooth travel during this busy season.

Increased Travel and Destinations

Mark Crawford, marketing and public relations manager for the Shreveport Airport Authority, revealed that traveler volume is up, with planes at the Shreveport Regional Airport experiencing higher occupancy rates than the industry average. February saw aircrafts at a remarkable 91% capacity, indicating a significant increase in travel interest.

The airport offers flights to seven major destinations through four airlines:

  • Allegiant Airlines: Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Destin, Orlando/Sanford
  • American Airlines: Charlotte, NC, Dallas/Fort Worth
  • Delta Air Lines: Atlanta
  • United Airlines: Houston, Denver

Popular Flight Routes and Tips

With spring break approaching, flights are filling up quickly, especially popular routes like Las Vegas through Allegiant, with fares averaging around $130 per person. Crawford emphasized the importance of booking early to secure seats as demand rises.

For ski enthusiasts, daily nonstop flights to Denver provided by United Airlines offer a convenient travel option during the spring break period.

Travel Day Recommendations

Crawford shared some essential travel tips for a stress-free travel experience:

  • If flying Delta, American, or United, arrive at least one hour before departure.
  • If flying Allegiant, arrive at least two hours before departure.

The airport also announced exciting updates, including the introduction of first-class seating on the Denver route and seasonal fares to Destin and Orlando starting in May.

Planning Ahead

As spring break transitions into summer vacation planning, travelers are encouraged to explore the upcoming flight options at the Shreveport Regional Airport for their next getaway.
