Shreveport’s Schools Get a Helping Hand: Community Members Invited to Share Insights

SHREVEPORT, La. – A new chapter appears to be opening for Caddo Parish Schools as Superintendent Keith Burton kicks off a much-anticipated listening and learning tour. Under his guidance, the initiative aims to engage everyone connected to the school system—parents, students, employees, and community members alike.

So, what’s the scoop? Starting today, you can have your voice heard through a couple of easy ways. Want to share your thoughts without leaving the comfort of your couch? Just hop onto the district’s website or send a quick text to (318) 497-7331. It’s as easy as pie! Your feedback can help shape the direction of the schools, highlighting what’s currently working well and pinpointing areas where improvement is needed.

A Chance to Speak Up

Superintendent Burton is eager to connect with the community and is not shy about proclaiming the importance of your input. “Every student, employee, parent or guardian, and community member is encouraged to help shape the future of Caddo Schools by sharing their thoughts on how we can move forward together,” he remarked. His goal? To transform the school district into something all can be proud of.

Not only can you share your ideas online, but there’s also a series of town hall meetings lined up where you can chat directly with the Superintendent. Grab your calendar because here are the dates and locations you won’t want to miss:

  • Monday: Booker T. Washington High School, auditorium, 5:30 p.m.
  • Nov. 18: Huntington High School, auditorium, 5:30 p.m.
  • Dec. 2: Broadmoor STEM Academy, auditorium, 5:30 p.m.
  • Dec. 5: Northwood High School, auditorium, 5:30 p.m.
  • Dec. 9: Woodlawn High School, auditorium, 5:30 p.m.

These meetings will be a golden opportunity for students, parents, teachers, and neighbors to gather in one place, share perspectives, and engage in discussions that could be pivotal for the future of the district. Remember, it’s not just about making noise; it’s about making a difference.

A Fresh Perspective

Since taking the reins in October, Superintendent Burton has been proactive in his mission. He’s been out and about, visiting schools and engaging with local officials and groups, keen on discovering opportunities for innovation and advancement. “We have so many incredible students and staff members that make us who we are,” he expressed. Together, they aim to highlight the successes while also seeking ways to improve.

His enthusiasm is contagious, and it’s clear he believes that collaboration is key. By listening to the community, he hopes to foster a partnership that can propel Caddo Schools to new heights. After all, strong schools are the backbone of a thriving community!

So, if you have an idea about what makes your school special or areas where you think there’s room for improvement, now is your chance to make that voice heard! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to contribute to the future of education in Shreveport.

Mark your calendars, spread the word, and get ready to dive into meaningful conversations that could change the face of education in Caddo Parish!
