In a tragic turn of events, Jacody Demetrius Wilson has been found guilty of murdering Sherman Rambo during a shooting at a Shreveport convenience store in September 2019. The incident unfolded when two groups clashed, leading to a chaotic gunfire exchange that resulted in Rambo’s death. This verdict arrives as the Shreveport community mourns the loss and looks for pathways to healing. Wilson is set for sentencing in January 2025 and may face a life sentence.
Shreveport, a city known for its warm community and vibrant culture, has recently dealt with a heartbreaking incident that has cast a shadow over its streets. A jury has found Jacody Demetrius Wilson, 29, guilty of murdering Sherman Rambo during a shooting at a local convenience store back in September 2019.
The incident occurred on September 1, 2019, at the A-1 Stop convenience store located in the Stoner Hill neighborhood. On that fateful day, Rambo and his uncle popped into the store to grab some snacks before heading off to watch a football game. Just a regular outing quickly spiraled into tragedy.
As Rambo and his uncle were inside, Wilson, along with his co-defendant Cortez Hines, rolled up in a red Chevrolet Cruze. Also present was Shaquille Bradford, who was at the store to pick up cigarettes. Little did anyone know that this simple errand would end in violence.
The tension escalated when Hines spotted Bradford outside. After that, everything went downhill—Hines grabbed a firearm and, after leaving the store, opened fire with a .40 caliber pistol, shooting nine times at Bradford. In the chaos, Wilson joined in, firing his own .40 caliber pistol six times at Rambo’s vehicle. Sadly, Rambo was shot once in the left side of his back and later succumbed to his injuries, while Bradford, the initial target of the attack, narrowly escaped without being hit.
The aftermath of this violent incident left detectives with the task of piecing together the chaotic scene. Authorities found a staggering 15 .40 caliber shell casings scattered across the ground where the shooting took place. Thanks to tips from Crime Stoppers, investigators were able to identify Hines as a suspect quite quickly.
Digging deeper, police traced the connection between Hines and Wilson through a license plate number linked to the Chevrolet Cruze. Their thorough investigation led them to discover both pistols used in the attack, giving them solid evidence to work with. In a surprising turn of events, Wilson confessed to both firing at Bradford and driving the car they used that day.
In April 2023, Hines faced his fate, being found guilty of second-degree murder related to the same incident. Now, Wilson also faces serious consequences of his own. He is scheduled for sentencing on January 21, 2025, and it looks like he could be hit with a mandatory life sentence in prison for his role in Rambo’s death. Additionally, Wilson has a pending charge for attempted second-degree murder regarding the shooting aimed at Bradford.
This senseless act of violence has undoubtedly left a mark on the Shreveport community. Families are grieving, and many are left wondering how something so tragic could happen in their neighborhood. While justice is on the way for Rambo’s family, it serves as a stark reminder of the need for peace and understanding amidst the chaos of life.
As Shreveport continues to grapple with the effects of this tragic shooting, residents are hoping for healing and brighter days ahead. Community leaders stress the importance of coming together to eliminate violence and support one another. The vigilance of law enforcement and residents alike will be crucial in ensuring such incident remains an exception rather than a norm.
