SHREVEPORT, La. — A lively Saturday night turned into a scene of horror when a deadly drive-by shooting erupted at a house party, tragically claiming the life of 18-year-old Jestin Ware II. The incident unfolded just before 11 p.m. in the Broadmoor neighborhood, in the 100 block of Pierremont Road, where around 30 partygoers had gathered to celebrate.
According to investigators, this wasn’t some random act of violence. Police revealed that Ware and three other individuals were specifically targeted. The suspects reportedly obtained intel about their whereabouts, leading to the fatal ambush. As guests mingled and enjoyed the night, a vehicle drove past and opened fire, striking Ware along with three others. It’s hard to imagine the shock and chaos as the celebrations turned to screams and panic.
Emergency services wasted no time in rushing Ware to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. Sadly, despite their best efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. The three additional victims were also hospitalized but are expected to make a full recovery. It’s a devastating blow for their friends and family, especially for those who knew Ware as a bright young man just starting out in life.
This property, where the tragedy unfolded, has a dubious history. Just last week, police responded to reports of illegal activities at the same vacant house. It raises questions about community safety and the measures being taken to address these ongoing issues. Cpl. Chris Bordelon shared, “Detectives responded and interviewed many witnesses into the early morning hours. At this time, they’re following up on additional leads. However, we know there are more witnesses and individuals with crucial information about this case.”
Ware’s untimely death marks the 49th homicide in Shreveport this year alone, a statistic that is deeply concerning for residents. The ripple effect of such violence is felt throughout the community, with family, friends, and classmates mourning the loss of a young life filled with potential. Jestin was a senior at North DeSoto High School in nearby Stonewall. Students, teachers, and staff are left grappling with the loss, searching for answers as to why such tragedies keep occurring.
Shreveport detectives are working tirelessly to piece together the details of what led to this senseless act of violence. They are urging anyone with information to come forward. If you know something, no matter how small, it could be crucial to solving this case. You can contact Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 and make a difference in bringing justice to Ware’s grieving family.
As the community comes to grips with this heartbreaking incident, there’s a collective hope for healing and justice. Everyone has a role to play in ensuring that our neighborhoods are safe havens rather than places of violence. Every tip matters, and together we can help make Shreveport a safer place.
