Sponsor Our ArticlesThe festive season is officially upon us in Shreveport, where the chill in the air brings a sprinkle of holiday magic! The beloved Snow-Port exhibit at the Sci-Port Discovery Center has returned, giving kids and families the chance to step into a winter wonderland without ever leaving Louisiana.
After a year-long hiatus, the exhibit opened its doors on Friday, and it’s already making waves in the community. With winter-themed attractions like sock ice skating, the ever-popular ice fishing, and a fun snowball tossing area, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Eric Sanders, Assistant Executive Director of Sci-Port, couldn’t contain his excitement: “We had a busy morning with about 90 kids participating in our polar activities!”
Families and winter enthusiasts can experience the Snow-Port for themselves until February 23, 2025. Tickets are very affordable at $8 for just the Snow-Port exhibit or $18 for a combined ticket that includes all the fun at the main Sci-Port exhibit. It’s a fantastic way to spend a day filled with laughter and creativity!
As winter rolls in, Shreveport is seeing some lovely weather to accompany the festivities, with highs around 65°F today. It’s the perfect day to break away from holiday preparations and engage in some exciting winter activities without freezing outside! With light winds adding just the right touch, you can enjoy all the fun inside a beautifully decorated venue.
The excitement of the Snow-Port isn’t the only thing warming the hearts of locals. The holiday celebrations are ramping up all over the Ark-La-Tex region, bringing communities together in ways that are both joyful and meaningful. From awe-inspiring light displays to festive parades, Shreveport is buzzing with seasonal activities to mark this special time of the year.
In the spirit of the season, local businesses are inviting shoppers to make the most of Small Business Saturday by supporting their community this holiday season. Every time you purchase from a local shop, you’re not just getting a unique gift; you’re also injecting vitality back into the place you call home. These initiatives spark holiday cheer while ensuring that our neighbors thrive through the winter months!
So, gather the family, put on those warm clothes, and get ready for the joyous experiences waiting for you at Snow-Port. Whether it’s the thrill of ice fishing, skating around on a sock-covered floor, or tossing snowballs in a lively competition, this winter wonderland is sure to fill your hearts with laughter and fun.
With everything from sparkly lights to community gatherings happening around every corner, it’s easy to see why this time of year brings everyone closer together. Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the area, embrace the magic of the holidays right here in Shreveport!
