On November 10, police arrested a 33-year-old woman named Tracey Mourning after she allegedly fired multiple rounds at a passing vehicle, along with a nearby dog, on Ashton Street. Thankfully, no injuries were reported from this disturbing encounter, but Mourning was hit with a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, highlighting the alarming trend of gun violence that’s affecting the community.

Heartbreaking Incident in Southern Hills

Earlier in the year, on May 11, the community faced a real heartbreak when a 12-year-old boy, Jaylen Coleman, was shot and killed. The tragic event happened around 11 p.m. while Jaylen was allegedly attempting to break into a parked car in Southern Hills. His life was cut short by a gunshot wound to the head, and despite the immediate response from first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle owner, who discharged the firearm, was not arrested, raising questions about the circumstances of the shooting and the community’s concern for safety and justice.

Domestic Violence on the Rise

In a string of events that reflect the disturbing trends of violence in Shreveport, 19-year-old Christian Braden was arrested on December 9 following a series of violent incidents involving his ex-girlfriend.
