Residents of Shreveport gather to discuss escalating violence and safety measures.
A Caddo Parish grand jury returned seven indictments related to violent crimes, including a drive-by shooting that resulted in the death of a local teenager. Among the accused are two juveniles charged in the tragic shooting of 15-year-old Anthony Vinson Jr., as well as individuals facing charges for domestic violence and rape. The community is left reeling as conversations around safety and violence continue to emerge, highlighting an urgent need for collective action.
In a recent series of developments in Shreveport, the Caddo Parish grand jury returned seven indictments concerning serious crimes including a tragic drive-by shooting that led to the death of a local teenager. The indictments were handed down in the week of July 12, 2023, sparking conversations throughout the community about violence and safety.
Among the most shocking cases is that of two juvenile suspects, Rodnick Calhoun, 15, and Onterio Robinson, who was 17 at the time of the incident. Both have been indicted for their roles in the drive-by shooting death of 15-year-old Anthony Vinson Jr. on November 4, 2022. This incident took place near the intersection of Jewella Avenue and Peyton Street in the Mooretown neighborhood. Witness reports indicate that shell casings were located close to the victim’s bicycle, which raises questions about the escalation of violence in the area.
The string of indictments doesn’t end there. Another case that has captured the community’s attention involves Victor Bradley, 29, who faces two counts of second-degree murder for the deaths of Erica Pitts, 30, and Tavarae Loneman, 28, back on March 13, 2022. The two victims were tragically found dead in their vehicle at Clanton Street and St. Vincent Avenue in the Caddo Heights neighborhood. In addition, Bradley is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, which adds further concern about gun violence in the community.
In another disturbing case, Lonnie Paul Troquille, 42, was indicted for the second-degree murder of his girlfriend, Kali Lynch-Roberts, 29, which occurred in her home on E. Herndon Street on November 17, 2022. This indictment reflects the alarming trend of domestic violence that has been highlighted in recent months, raising issues about support systems for victims.
Two local residents have also been charged with serious offenses, including Dustin Pedicini, 37, and Jordyn Norwood, 16, both facing charges of first-degree rape. This has understandably stirred outrage and concern among community members, who are demanding swift justice for victims. Additionally, Andrew Spinks has been charged with aggravated rape, though further details about his case remain scarce at the moment.
The situation in Shreveport is a challenging one, but together, the community hopes for a safer future. Keep an eye out for further updates as the judicial process continues!
