Shreveport Weather: A Mix of Clouds and Thunderstorms Ahead!
Hey Shreveport! As we move through another December day, it looks like we might want to keep our umbrellas handy because the forecast is calling for some pretty wet weather ahead. Early this morning, we’re waking up to cloudy skies with a slightly chilly high of 57°F. If you’re heading out, expect some light breezes coming from the southeast at about 5 to 10 mph. A perfect sweater day, right?
What to Expect Later
But hold on — it’s not just a cute sweater day. As the afternoon sets in, those clouds are likely to thicken up, and we could be in for a contrasting evening. The forecast says thunderstorms will roll in later, with a heating chance of rain sitting at about 80%. Quite the dramatic weather shift!
Temperatures will dip down to a low of 53°F as those thunderstorms move in. Winds will remain steady from the southeast at 5 to 10 mph, keeping that chill in the air. So if you’re planning to head out this evening, you might want to take that umbrella along with your favorite cozy jacket!
Staying Safe this Holiday Season
And speaking of plans, as we go into the heart of the holiday season, it’s crucial that everyone stays safe while enjoying festive celebrations. That’s why we want to remind our beloved community to make responsible choices when it comes to drinking and driving. Nobody wants to end a jolly night with a not-so-jolly accident!
Recently, Emyli Speer with TXDOT sat down for an important chat to help keep us all on the right track during these celebratory times. She made the point that it’s super easy to get caught up in the fun and forget about our safety on the roads. So, remember, if you’ve been drinking, the keys should definitely stay out of your hands.
Get Involved!
If you have any topics you’d like to see discussed or more information you’d like to know, don’t hold back! There’s a chance for you to get involved by simply sending in your ideas. Shoot over an email with “Answer the Call” in the subject line to the team, and they’ll make sure to address your concerns.
A Heads Up for Planning
While we’re all planning our holiday gatherings, it’s a great idea to also arrange for a designated driver or look into rideshare options. Trust us, it’s always better to be safe than sorry, especially when those storms roll in. So let’s keep it merry and bright without any unwanted emergencies!
Wrap Up
As we gear up for a wet evening, make sure you stay bundled up, keep an eye on the skies, and most importantly, be smart when celebrating. Shreveport, we can ride out the storm together and keep the festive spirit alive without compromising safety. Keep an eye on the weather updates, and stay safe out there!
Until next time, Shreveport! Catch you on the flip side!
