Shreveport Hits Near Record Highs Amid Recent Tragic Events

Shreveport is buzzing with a mix of sweltering weather and some serious happenings around town. As October rolls towards its end, it’s hard to ignore the weather forecast that’s predicting partly cloudy skies with temperatures soaring up to a near record high of 88°F. With gentle winds blowing from the southeast at about 10 to 15 mph, it looks like we’re in for some warm days ahead. Nighttime will cool down slightly, dipping to a low of 67°F. So, if you’re planning on heading outside, stay hydrated and keep an eye on that sun!

Tragedy on the Roads

Mark Johnson, aged 51, was tragically killed while attempting to cross the road in the 6800 block of West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop on Thursday night. Authorities have stated that Johnson was positively identified through official government ID and fingerprint comparisons. An autopsy has also been ordered to determine the specifics surrounding this unfortunate accident. It’s a stark reminder that safety on the roads should never be taken for granted.

Legal Woes in the Region

Gregory Newson, has been found guilty of killing an East Texas deputy during a traffic stop back in 2019. Newson, hailing from Shreveport, faces capital murder charges, which carry severe penalties. This case has been making headlines and underscores the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces on the frontlines day in and day out.
