SHREVEPORT, La. – A woman has been taken into custody following a violent domestic incident that occurred early Tuesday morning on August 20, 2024. The Shreveport Police Department reported that the stabbing took place in a residence located in the 4300 block of Illinois Avenue, an area known as Mooretown.
Officers responded to the scene around 2 a.m. and found a man with multiple stab wounds. Reports indicate he sustained serious injuries to his back, neck, and arm. Emergency medical personnel transported him to a local hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.
According to police reports, the victim stated that he was engaged in a heated argument with Quennisha Gandy, 27, when he attempted to leave the residence. During this confrontation, Gandy allegedly stabbed him multiple times. The victim was able to flee to a nearby apartment complex to seek help.
Details from the incident were corroborated by footage obtained from the Real Time Crime Center. The video shows Gandy pursuing the victim while brandishing a knife, adding to the seriousness of the situation.
Given the gravity of the injuries sustained by the victim, Gandy was arrested at the scene. She now faces serious charges including domestic abuse battery with a dangerous weapon inflicting serious bodily injury and domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.
This incident has raised alarms in the Shreveport community, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding domestic violence. Local authorities continue to remind residents of the importance of seeking help and reporting any signs of domestic abuse.
