Firefighters battling house blaze

Two Injured in Single-Story House Fire in Shreveport

In a tragic incident earlier this morning, two individuals in Shreveport’s Highland neighborhood had to be rushed to the hospital after their single-story house was consumed by fire. The fire was one of the two incidents that local firefighters had to deal with within an eight-hour window.

The Morning Blaze

Firefighters were summoned to the scene of the residential fire located in the 200 block of Egan Street at around 5:13 a.m. Upon their arrival, they were greeted by the sight of a single-story home heavily involved in flames. Two individuals, both who were present at the residence during the incident, had to be transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The considerable effort of 27 valiant firefighters was required to overcome this morning blaze and another fire incident that occurred later on in the same day.

Afternoon Fire Incident

At 1:18 p.m., another fire crew reported to the 6200 block of Henderson Avenue after receiving reports of a visible blaze. By the time they arrived, billows of flame had already engulfed the front of the single-story residence. Fortunately, no occupants were inside the house at the time of the incident.

The Cause of the Blaze

Presently, the actual cause of the house fire remains uncertain and under active investigation. Officials are focusing their efforts on determining whether this was an unfortunate accident or a case of foul play.

Safety Measures and Awareness

Home safety is a primary concern for the Shreveport Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau. They are encouraging residents to adopt adequate fire safety measures. The bureau offers free smoke detectors to those in need. If you require a smoke detector, you can contact the Shreveport Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau at (318) 673-6740.

Additional Incidents

Among the most read news, it has been reported that following this tragic incident, a house fire in Sabine Parish led to the demise of two men. In another unrelated incident, an 18-year-old and her mother were accused of traveling across the country to administer illegal butt injections. With the steady rise of severe weather threats and potentially heavy rain early next week, locals are advised to stay vigilant and safe.
