Sponsor Our ArticlesShreveport, La. – If you’re looking for a little winter magic, look no further because the Snow-Port exhibit has made its delightful return to Sci-Port Discovery Center, bringing the spirit of winter right to your hometown! Opening its doors this past Friday, the exhibit promises to be a cold-weather playground, sizzling with fun and excitement for kids and families alike.
Set against a backdrop of chilly weather and enthusiasm, the Snow-Port is offering a dazzling array of winter-themed activities that cater to all ages. Have you ever fancied yourself a figure skater? Well, grab your socks and get ready for some serious sock ice skating! If you’re in the mood for a fishing adventure, then try your hand at ice fishing, and to top it all off, unleash your inner snowball warrior with some good old snowball tossing. Sounds like a blast, right?
The opening day was a hit with approximately 90 excited kids diving into the polar festivities. “We had a busy morning with about 90 kids participating in our polar activities,” said Eric Sanders, Sci-Port’s Assistant Executive Director. With such a warm reception, it’s clear that the community is eager to embrace this winter wonderland for some seasonal fun!
Snow-Port is set to be open until February 23, giving everyone plenty of time to join in on the frosty fun. Tickets are affordably priced at $8 for the Snow-Port exhibit alone, or you can grab a combined ticket for just $18, which grants you access to both Snow-Port and the main Sci-Port exhibit. Talk about a deal – you get double the fun for just a smidge more!
This exhibit not only promises fun and engaging activities, but it also provides a unique opportunity for families to create lifelong memories. Picture your kids giggling as they twirl around on the sock ice rink, or how about friendly competitions of accuracy with snowball tossing? These are the kind of moments that can light up a gloomy winter day.
Plus, with the weather outside providing mainly sunny skies for the afternoon and a high of 59°F, it sounds like a great day to head out to the center and enjoy some wintery adventures. Just be aware of the chilly evenings, as clear skies and possible scattered frost are predicted, bringing nighttime lows down to around 32°F. So, bundle up after your visit!
Snow-Port has become a cherished winter tradition for Shreveport families, and this year promises to be no different. The mix of hands-on activities and discovery means that kids and their parents can learn about winter in a fun, interactive way. There’s something uniquely special about embracing the winter season, so whether you’re a local or just visiting, make sure to carve out some time for a delightful day at Sci-Port Discovery Center’s Snow-Port.
With fun activities, family bonding, and a chance to experience a winter wonderland without the freezing temperatures outside, it’s a perfect outing for everyone. Grab your ticket and get ready to step into a magical land filled with laughter, learning, and winter cheer!
