Sponsor Our ArticlesSchool is out in Shreveport, and many residents in the ArkLaTex are eager to kick off summer with a splash. The temperatures are rising, and just in time, the Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR) department has opened its Southern Hills pool on Monday, May 27.
Following the opening of Southern Hills pool, the Airport Park, David Raines, and Querbes pools are scheduled to welcome swimmers starting Tuesday, May 28. This marks the beginning of a summer filled with sunny days spent cooling off in the water.
Excitement is palpable among families as they flock to the Southern Hills pool on its opening day. One family expressed their anticipation, saying, “My kids have been asking me for weeks, ‘When are the pools gonna be open?’ It’s exciting to finally be here.”
For many, the pool provides a welcome escape from the scorching heat. A visitor remarked, “Besides the rain, it’s been super hot out here. So, yeah, they’ve been dying to get in the water.”
One young pool-goer eagerly shared, “Of course I want my friends to come out to the pool. They’re my friends, and I miss all my teachers from when I was little.”
As summer officially kicks off, the opening of the SPAR pools offers a perfect opportunity for families and friends to create lasting memories under the sun. Whether it’s swimming laps, enjoying poolside picnics, or simply basking in the cool waters, the city pools are set to be a hub of summer activity.
As residents flock to the city pools to beat the heat, it’s important to remember safety guidelines. Parents and guardians are encouraged to supervise children at all times, especially in and around the water. Additionally, sun protection, hydration, and following pool rules are key to ensuring a fun and safe swimming experience for everyone.
Shreveport residents are invited to make a splash at the city pools and enjoy a summer filled with laughter, sunshine, and refreshing dips in the water. With more pools set to open and a season of fun ahead, the community can look forward to a memorable summer in Shreveport.
