SporTran Bus Carrying Passengers Rear-Ended on Spring Street

SHREVEPORT, La. – A crash put the brakes on the morning commute Wednesday in Shreveport when a city bus was hit. Motorists got stuck behind an accident in the southbound lane of Spring Street just south of downtown. It was just after 8 a.m. when a person driving an F-250 hit the back of a SporTran bus. There were 20-25 passengers on the bus at the time. Several ambulances were on the scene, but there’s not word on the extent of any injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

Accident Details

The accident occurred at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Spring Street. The SporTran bus, carrying a full load of passengers, was rear-ended by an F-250 truck. The impact caused significant damage to the rear of the bus, and emergency services were called to the scene immediately.

Passenger Safety

Due to the force of the collision, several passengers on the bus reported minor injuries. Emergency medical personnel arrived promptly to attend to the injured individuals and transport them to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. The exact nature and extent of the injuries sustained by the passengers are currently being assessed.

Investigation Ongoing

The Shreveport Police Department responded to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident. Traffic on Spring Street was temporarily disrupted as authorities worked to clear the area and gather evidence. The driver of the F-250 truck is cooperating with law enforcement officials as they piece together the events leading up to the collision.

Transportation Services Impacted

The accident has prompted SporTran to assess the safety protocols and measures in place for their fleet of buses. Officials from the transportation agency have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the well-being of passengers and drivers while traveling on Shreveport’s public transportation system. Additional safety precautions may be implemented in the wake of this incident.
