Spring break excitement is kicking into high gear for students in Shreveport and the surrounding parishes! With some awesome plans shaping up, it’s a time of year that many local folks have been looking forward to. Whether you’re dreaming of sandy beaches or fun-filled adventures closer to home, there’s a whole lot of opportunity on the horizon!
For those in Caddo and Bossier Parishes, the break is set for March 10 to 14, 2024, while Webster Parish takes an exciting break just a bit later, from March 24 to 28, 2024. Meanwhile, students in DeSoto Parish will enjoy their well-earned break from March 31 to April 4, 2024. It’s all happening just in time for the lovely spring weather!
After spring break, students will also have a little Easter break to look forward to on April 18 to 21, 2024, which perfectly aligns with Easter Sunday on April 20!
As spring break approaches, local residents are being encouraged to hustle in making their beach trip reservations! Popular beach spots tend to fill up quickly, so it’s best not to wait too long. Speaking of beach trips, some fantastic news for travelers: Allegiant Airlines is gearing up to launch passenger service to Gulf Shores, Alabama. This means students and families can avoid the long drive from Louisiana, with ticket prices possibly starting as low as $49! What a steal!
It’s not just local schools getting in on the spring break fun. Students from LSU will kick off their break on March 31, while the Ragin Cajuns and McNeese State will follow suit with their breaks starting on April 18. Who wouldn’t want to have a blast with a little time off from studies?
On the coast, Biloxi is gearing up for its own spring break festivities. The Mississippi Black Spring Break is all set for April 11 to 14, 2024, bringing along some new regulations aimed at managing traffic, parking, and safety in the area. Just be prepared, as parking permits have been denied for some areas, meaning parking will now be limited to designated spaces along U.S. 90.
Additionally, a spring break concert featuring popular artists like Jeezy, Sexyy Red, and 42 Dugg will be taking place on April 13, 2024, at the Coast Coliseum. Make sure to snag your spot early as parking for the concert day will cost $25, and unfortunately, tailgating will not be allowed, so plan accordingly!
Biloxi’s new mobile food laws require vendors to secure proper permits, and there will be fees for those without existing permits. It’s all about ensuring safety and maintaining emergency access in residential areas. Remember, vehicles obstructing traffic will be towed, so it’s best to pay attention and park wisely.
As the spring break season approaches, there’s a buzz in the air—whether it’s planning vacations, prepping for concerts, or simply soaking up the festivities with friends. Make the most of your time off, enjoy your adventures, and here’s to a fun and safe spring break for all!
