Sponsor Our ArticlesHey there, Shreveport! It’s that wonderful time of the year again when the State Fair of Louisiana comes to town! Make sure to mark your calendars because this year’s fair will be taking place from October 30 to November 17 at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds. It’s going to be an exciting 18 days packed full of attractions, entertainment, and, of course, delicious fair food!
This year, the fair is gearing up for a fantastic run, but just a heads-up, the fairgrounds will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. However, it’s great to know that the fair will be open on Election Day, November 5. This means you can head out to vote and then kick back and enjoy all that the fair has to offer. What could be better than exercising your right to vote and then celebrating with some fun rides and games?
When you plan your visit, keep in mind the fair will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. With longer hours on weekends, it’s a perfect opportunity to explore everything the fair has to offer!
Get ready for a whole lot of fun because this year’s fair is offering a mix of shows and attractions that you won’t want to miss! From live music to engaging shows, there’s something for everyone. One of the highlights this year will be the LRCA Finals Rodeo, along with a Veterans Day Parade, Faith at the Fair, and Latino Day. And, let’s not forget, the fair will also host the largest livestock show in the state, which is included with your gate admission!
In an exciting turn of events, this year, Talley Amusements, one of the country’s top midway providers, will transform the fair experience. As you walk through the main gate, get ready for a stunning grand entrance along with new rides that you’ve probably never seen before. Plus, the fair will glow with thousands of LED lights that will surely brighten up your experience and keep the festive atmosphere alive!
For those coming with little ones, you’ll be pleased to hear that there will be free charging stations for your phones and diaper changing stations throughout the fairgrounds. It’s convenient amenities like these that can make all the difference during a busy day at the fair. And while you’re there, don’t forget to snap a selfie with Talley Amusements’ lovable mascot, Lil Tate!
Your safety is a priority at the fair, and this year you’ll notice several updated policies. There will be a clear bag policy in place, meaning all bags are subject to be searched upon arrival. Bags exceeding the size limit won’t be allowed entry, so be sure to check the website for details on approved bags. Enhanced security and more surveillance cameras have also been added to ensure everyone has a safe experience.
Don’t forget to take advantage of the advanced discount ticket sale, which begins on Monday and runs until October 29. Purchasing your tickets early can save you between $5 to $10 per ticket! You can buy them online or at participating local grocery stores. Oh, and here’s a bright spot: parking is free during the entire run of the fair! So no worries there!
With all these exciting changes and activities, the 118th running of the State Fair of Louisiana promises to be unforgettable. Bring your family, invite your friends, and get ready to make some lasting memories! See you at the fair!
