Strawn’s Eat Shop Serves Up Strawberry Pie with Side of Community Pride

Strawn’s Eat Shop: Celebrating 80 Years of Community Service and Delicious Delicacies

SHREVEPORT, La.

This year will mark 80 years that Strawn’s Eat Shop has been delighting palates and gathering friends off Kings Highway. The diner-style eatery, serving hearty breakfasts and American classics, is a community fixture, and it exudes a distinct sense of homegrown pride in its hospitality and cuisine.

A Family-Oriented Eatery

According to Angela Erwin, who has been managing Strawn’s for almost 20 years, the restaurant serves as a multigenerational meeting place. “People have come to know this as a family-oriented place. They bring their kids, and their kids bring their grandkids,” Erwin said. The menu reflects this ethos, offering food for every generation and dietary pointer.

Home of the Famous Strawberry Pie

Food lovers looking for comfort food will not be disappointed. From breakfast staples like pancakes, bacon, eggs, and biscuits to lunch classics such as fried chicken and burgers, Strawn’s has something for everyone.

However, the true star of the show is their top-selling strawberry pie. Owner Buddy Gauthier says, “There’s nothing like it. When you eat the pie, you’ll understand.”

More than just Good Food

Their excellent food is just one reason why the eatery has become a beloved staple in Shreveport. Strawn’s Eat Shop is also known for their warm and welcoming atmosphere. Regular customers are greeted by name and their orders are often known by heart. Strawn’s provides not just a meal, but a place where community members feel comfortable, valued, and at home.

Three Locations Serving the Community

Strawn’s Eat Shop now has three locations; the original on Kings Highway, another on Youree Drive and a third on Airline Drive in Bossier City. “Shreveport needs a place like this. We’ve been here a long time thanks to them, appreciate you, thank you,” Gauthier spoke in gratitude toward the consistent patronage of loyal customers. The two newer locations are run by Gauthier’s daughters, who continue the family tradition of serving tasty meals with a hearty side of community pride.
