Sunny and Warm Sunday in Shreveport

Shreveport, La. – Happy Sunday to everyone enjoying this beautiful weekend! Today, the weather is shaping up to be another warm and quiet day around the ArkLaTex region. Temperatures have generally climbed into the upper 80s, but our fair city has already hit a delightful 91 degrees this afternoon. How great is that? As the evening approaches, we’re in for a treat, as the weather will remain calm and comfortable.

What’s in Store for the Week Ahead

Looking ahead, this upcoming work week promises to be mainly quiet as well. Get ready for even warmer temperatures! Hold onto your hats because highs could soar close to the mid-90s come Tuesday afternoon. Just when you think it can’t get any hotter, our beautiful Louisiana sun has a knack for surprising us!

However, hang tight! A cold front is predicted to drift through later in the week, and that should bring the highs back down into the mid and upper 80s. So, if you enjoy those warm summer vibes, soak it in while you can!

Stay Hydrated and Keep Those Plants Watered

As the weather remains dry, it’s important to keep our plants thriving. With no rain in sight for the next 7 days, make sure to water your plants a little extra throughout this week! Unfortunately, drought conditions are expected to worsen, so we all have a role in keeping our green friends healthy.

A Look at the Tropics

Now, let’s talk about the tropics. Things are getting busy out there! Right now, we have two named storms and a couple of areas showing potential tropical development. Tropical systems Joyce and Isaac are currently swirling in the Atlantic. Thankfully, meteorologists expect them to remain over the ocean and gradually dissipate. So, no need to worry about those storms heading our way!

There’s also a newly formed Tropical Depression Twelve that’s on track to become Tropical Storm Kirk by tomorrow morning. That makes for some exciting weather news! Additionally, there’s a potential tropical system in the Caribbean that several models predict could make another landfall in Florida later this week.

Good news is, this system is expected to be far less intense than our recent weather events, such as Helene. However, it’s always a good idea to stay weather-aware as conditions can change quickly, and we never want to be unprepared.

Wrapping Up the Weekend

So, as you enjoy the rest of your Sunday, take a moment to appreciate the warm, sunny weather. We know that soon enough, we’ll be experiencing the cooler conditions brought by that incoming cold front, so let’s enjoy what we have for now! Stay safe, hydrated, and keep your eye on the tropics.

Have a wonderful weekend, Shreveport, and let’s welcome the new week with open arms!
