SHREVEPORT, La. – As Thanksgiving approaches, the spirit of giving is alive and well in Shreveport. The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission has been hard at work for several months planning what promises to be a fulfilling day for many in the community. On this special day, they’re gearing up to serve a whopping 1,300 meals to those in need, providing a hearty meal and a warm smile to families that may otherwise go without.
Out of these 1,300 meals, the Mission will serve 300 meals on-site for guests who can come in and enjoy a meal together. But wait, there’s more! The remaining 1,000 meals will be delivered straight to the doors of neighbors in need, ensuring that no one feels alone during this holiday season.
What’s Thanksgiving without the star of the show? That’s right, turkey! Thanks to the Giving BAK Foundation, all 1,300 plates will feature delicious, smoked turkey. It’s a mouth-watering addition that’s sure to bring joy to those who receive it.
The real heroes of this story are none other than the wonderful people of Shreveport. The remaining feast, which includes everything from sides to desserts, is all thanks to the abundant generosity of community members. “This past year has been incredibly difficult for many in our cities,” says Pastor Larry Otwell, Executive Director of the Mission. “Thanks to our great community, no one in need has to go hungry this Thanksgiving.” What a beautiful reminder of the impact kindness can have!
The team at the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission has been making preparations for months now. “Planning meals, organizing volunteers, and ensuring that we have everything we need to make this a successful event takes time and dedication,” says a representative from the Mission. With every detail meticulously thought out, the team is ready to ensure Thanksgiving is a memorable day for everyone involved.
If you’re feeling inspired by this incredible initiative and want to contribute, there’s still time! Whether it’s volunteering your time, donating food supplies, or simply spreading the word, every little bit helps. Together, the Shreveport community can come together to make sure that every plate is full on Thanksgiving Day.
As families gather around their tables this Thanksgiving, let’s take a moment to remember those who are less fortunate. The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission is doing their part to bridge that gap, bringing hope and nourishment to those in need. Together, we can help make this Thanksgiving a beautiful reminder of what it means to care for one another.
In a world where change is needed more than ever, it’s refreshing to see a community pull together, sharing meals and laughter. Remember, folks: it’s not just about the food; it’s about fellowship, love, and gratitude.
So, who’s ready to kick off this Thanksgiving with a spirit of kindness and generosity? The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission has certainly set the bar high this year, allowing everyone in the community to be a part of something truly special. Mark your calendars, spread the cheer, and let’s make this Thanksgiving one to remember!
