What a night it was in Shreveport, Louisiana! On November 16, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) rolled out the red carpet for its 13th Annual Torch Awards, held at the lovely East Ridge Country Club. This annual event celebrates local businesses and organizations that go above and beyond in their commitment to ethics, customer service, community support, and more. With a total of 32 nominees from Shreveport and Bossier City, the night was filled with excitement and appreciation.
The awards were presented in four fantastic categories, each shining a light on remarkable achievements within our local business community. Let’s dive into the winners!
First up was the Integrity Award, given to a business that exemplifies a solid commitment to ethical practices. This year, the award went to Hand Construction, a well-respected name in the industry. Not to be forgotten, other strong contenders included Adams Painting and Line Avenue Compounding Pharmacy.
Next was the Customer Commitment Award, which celebrates outstanding customer service programs. Action Garage Doors took home this prestigious award, showcasing their dedication to making customers feel valued. Finalists like Always Best Care Senior Services and Webb Professional Remodeling Services also deserved a hearty shoutout.
In the spirit of community, the Good Neighbor Award recognizes businesses that give back to local charities. This year, McCoy’s Butcher Block snagged the award, thanks to their commitment to supporting community initiatives. Roppolo’s Insulation and Cloudz Mattress Gallery were strong finalists, showcasing the generosity that runs deep in our community.
Last but certainly not least, the Not-For-Profit Award highlights organizations making a significant impact in our area. Holy Angels received top honors for their incredible contributions to the local community, while Oakwood Home for Women and Providence House also stood out as exemplary finalists.
Aside from recognizing local businesses, the BBB also took time to honor a group of talented students with scholarships. The recipients hailed from various colleges, each pursuing business degrees with dreams of a brighter future. The students included Samantha Duran from LSU-Shreveport, Jordan Flippin from Bossier Parish Community College, Lakisha Trammel-Taylor from Southern University-Shreveport, and many others.
The evening featured a guest speaker, Scott Martinez, the president of North Louisiana Economic Development, who shared valuable insights about the economic landscape in our region. His words inspired everyone in attendance, reaffirming the importance of ethical business practices in fostering community growth.
It’s worth noting that profits from this delightful luncheon will continue to fuel the BBB’s scholarship programs aimed at supporting business majors pursuing their MBA. This venture is all about giving back to the community and promoting ethical business practices, which is something the BBB firmly believes in.
As another successful Torch Awards ceremony wraps up, the spirit of goodwill and integrity shines brighter than ever in Shreveport and Bossier City.
