The deadly crash occurred approximately at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, in the intersection of North Market Street and McDaniel Drive. Responding to the distress call, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene to find a stolen 2005 Toyota Camry overturned. The horrific incident resulted in three fatalities and multiple injuries, leaving the community shell-shocked.
At least four people, including some with severe injuries, were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for immediate medical care. Conditions of the injured are not known at this point.
Initial investigation findings suggest that the Camry was speeding south on North Market Street when it tragically veered off the road. After hitting two curbs and a tree, the car turned turtle before coming to a rest, leaving some occupants thrown out from the vehicle as they were not wearing seat belts.
In a corresponding discovery, a stolen gun was also retrieved from the crash scene. Authorities are still trying to connect the dots and establish a clear sequence of events leading to this horrifying incident.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of reckless driving and non-adherence to road safety rules, especially the importance of seat belts. In the light of this incident, it is vital that drivers and passengers alike are reminded of the potential dangers and subsequent devastation that can stem from neglecting basic safety procedures.
The community mourns the loss of life in this dreadful incident, and it is hoped that lessons are learned, making our roads a safer place. For now, the investigation continues, and updates will be provided as more information comes to light.
