Shreveport, La. – Residents anticipating the revival of a beloved summer staple will have to wait just a little longer, as the newly renamed Wonder Oasis Waterpark announced a delay in their opening date on Friday. Initially slated to open on June 1, the waterpark’s gates will instead welcome patrons on June 7.
The one-week delay is largely attributed to the need for further renovations and repairs. The park, formerly known as Splash Kingdom Oasis, has undergone extensive works since its rebranding. However, unforeseen supply chain issues and adverse weather conditions have slowed progress slightly, prompting the decision to delay the opening.
Speaking on the delay, owner Lee Hovis conveyed his commitment to delivering an exceptional waterpark experience. He stated, “While it is disappointing that we have to postpone our opening, our main priority is ensuring safety and satisfaction for our visitors. We want our community to be proud of Wonder Oasis, and we will not compromise on the quality of their experience.”
In light of the announced delay, Wonder Oasis is extending its special offer for season pass holders. Patrons who have purchased or purchase a season pass before June 6 will receive a $15 voucher redeemable on food and retail items within the park. Additionally, season pass holders will also receive a ‘bring-a-buddy’ pass, which allows them to invite a friend for a free visit during the 2024 operating season.
As a further value-added benefit for their season pass holders, Wonder Oasis has also partnered with several waterparks in Texas and Arkansas. Hovis explained, “We have negotiated beneficial partnerships with Texas Splash Kingdom Waterparks in Nacogdoches, Canton, Greenville, and Hudson Oaks, as well as the all-new Big Dam Waterpark in Texarkana, Arkansas.”
